90210 coming to CW in the fall

Published by cvernonpal under TV Movies Edit This

If you’ve been sleeping under a rock, you might not have heard the news —a new, revamped 90210 will premiere this fall on the CW on Tuesday nights.

Even better for many is that at least one cast member from the original Beverly Hills, 90210 is coming to the show. Guest star Jennie Garth will reprise her original role as the high school guidance counselor Kelly Taylor. It’s also been rumored that Tori Spelling may guest star in an episode.

The show will focus on Annie Mills and her brother Dixon (Shenae Grimes and Tristan Wilds) when they move to a new school with their parents, mom Debbie (Lori Laughlin) and dad Harry (Rob Estes). The family has relocated to Beverly Hills to be closer to Harry’s mother Tabitha (Jessica Walters), a former television star who has been in and out of rehab, and also for Harry’s new job — principal of West Beverly Hills High School.

ABC Family’s Wildfire ends with wedding

Published by cvernonpal under TV News Edit This

Kris Furillo’s (Genevieve Cortese) dreams finally came true on the season finale and last show of ABC Family’s series “Wildfire” Monday night.

On the last episode, the Ritters and Kris learned that the lock to Wildfire’s stall had been cut and Wildfire was gone, right before a big race.

After looking for three days, everyone was giving up hope that Wildfire would be found, but Kris wasn’t ready to give up, looking everywhere she got a tip, though nothing turned up. Practically coming to the point where there was no hope, Wildfire returned and Matt Ritter (Micah Alberti) learned that a stable hand had left Wildfire’s stall open by accident, and after he was found missing, he cut the lock to make it look like theft.

Now able to race, not everyone was sure Wildfire was ready after being lost for three days. Kris was determined that Wildfire was ready.

But as a great ending to the show, Wildfire won in a close race which also included Dani Davis’ (Nicole Tubiola) horse, along with her future father-in-law’s horse Ken Davis’ (James Read).

But as Kris raced, her fiance Junior Davis (Ryan Sypek) had already left for his flight to Alaska. Going on one last ride around the Raintree Ranch on Wildfire with Matt, Kris is surprised when Matt disappears and Jean Ritter (Nana Visitor) and Pablo (Greg Serano) come out of the woods dressed in wedding attire, with Jean holding a wedding dress in her arms.

Jean tells Kris the wedding dress is for her as Junior comes out of the woods to tell her he canceled his Alaska project so they could be together and wants to marry her right then and there.

Kris and Junior are wed in a beautiful yet simple wedding under a brightly lit white tent under the stars on Raintree Ranch.

Really her only family she has, Jean and Pablo walked her down the isle. Matt served as best man while Dani was the maid of honor.

Junior and his father make up right before the wedding, as the hard-headed father finally decided having Junior in his life was more important than trying to control his son.

Also before the wedding, Jean and Pablo give their wedding present to Kris: Wildfire is now hers to keep. Even better, Wildfire is dressed in white just for the wedding.

This episode of Wildfire was not only the season finale but the last show of Wildfire due to its cancellation earlier this year. This being the four season, though short, was still good. I for one loved Wildfire and wished the show wasn’t canceled. While watching this last episode, I was thinking of the many areas where the show could have went, but sadly it can’t.

Matt and Dani are obviously a couple again, or heading in that direction. I would have preferred to see Dani with the vet and to see Matt with someone new. I also would have liked to watch the romance blossom between Jean and Pablo, though we know that the starting of it was there.

Thank you Wildfire for giving us a great ride!

What to watch on Memorial Day

Published by cvernonpal under TV News Edit This

Before you head out to the lake on Memorial Day, you might want to make sure you are home in time to catch several of the good items on television Monday:

The A&E Network will premiere the two-part mini series “The Andromeda Strain” at 9/8 p.m. CST featuring Benjamin Bratt, Ricky Schroeder and Eric McCormack. The miniseries will continue at 8 p.m. Tuesday.

“The Andromeda Strain” is based on the book by Michael Crichton.

• Be sure to catch the premieres of these two new reality TV series on E! that are sure to make waves — “Denise Richards: It’s Complicated” at 11/10 p.m. CST, followed by “Living Lohan” at 11:30/10:30 p.m. CST.

According to Richards, the show will give her the opportunity to for everyone to see how her life really is compared to what is described like in the tabloids. When questioned by Whoopi Goldberg on “The View,” she said her children will make small appearances in the show.

In the first episode, Denise goes on a blind date with a “regular” guy (instead of her normal “bad guy” Hollywood hunks. Meanwhile, Denise will play matchmaker for her pet pig Charlotte.

“Living Lohan” will focus on Lindsey’s mother Dina Lohan and her ambitious 14-year-old daughter Ali, who is ready to be in the spotlight like big sis Lindsay. Also on the show is son Cody, who is more into sports than anything; and Nana, Dina’s mom.

If that’s not enough TV to get you going, the AMC will show several old war movies throughout the day.

In Plain Sight series coming to USA Network

Published by cvernonpal under TV News Edit This

If you’ve always been interested in how the Witness Protection Program works, the new USA Network original series “In Plain Sight” debuting on June 8 may give you a look at the world that we often don’t hear about.

Mary McCormack (“The West Wing,” “Private Parts”) stars as Mary Shannon, a U.S. Marshal working in the secretive branch of the witness protection program who relocates federal witnesses.

“In Plain Sight” also stars Frederick Wellers (“Law & Order: Criminal Intent,” “The Shape of Things” as her partner and best friend, whose name happens to be Marshall, her mother Jinx (Lesley Ann Warren), Nichole Hiltz as her younger sister, Paul Ben-Victor, her boss; Cristian de la Fuente as her on-and-off again boyfriend; and Todd Williams as the local police detective she often tangles with.

What I like about the preview of this show is that it’s a lot of drama about the witness protection program, but it also is funny and quirky, because her personal life is always chaotic.

Did Simon’s negative comments help Cook?

Published by cvernonpal under TV Movies Edit This

Did Simon Cowell’s negative comments toward soulful rocker David Cook last night cause the frenzy of votes that led Cook to win over 12 million more votes that young 17-year-old David Archuleta?

I guess we will never know for sure but I am grateful that American decided to vote — a record 97 million votes were tallied, giving Cook an impressive lead.

My hat is off to the show producers to give the audience a show worthy of watching. I loved the interact between the top 10 and the various stars — including Seal, Donna Summer, Graham Nash, One Republic and George Michael. But to me, the two performances featuring rockers Bryan Adams and ZZ Top dueting with Cook were absolutely amazing.

Archuleta seemed to take the loss in stride, though I’m sure that this will not be last time we see him (after the Idol tour). Archuleta should have job offers just as well as Cook (because they both super talented!).
